Strategy:
Duck Holiday, I would say, is the best out of the Magnificent 7 companions, mainly because he is so diverse. You can build him to be focused around Burst Fire or as an anti-Musketeer. I prefer the anti-Musketeer build, especially if you plan on using him in PvP. He will be able to combat Musketeers easily before they can damage your hard hitters too much.

Starting with the Burst Fire centered build, you will, obviously, need to train Burst Fire on him. Give him tier 2 of this Epic, along with either True Grit 2 or Quick Draw and True Grit. I suggest True Grit 2, so you can have some anti-Musketeer aspects in him, but either way works fine. Aim for the most powerful enemies, and finish them off before they can reach your front lines. These will most likely be Swashbucklers, although Buccaneers with Relentless 2 or 3 can be a fairly high threat. If these enemies reach your Musketeers, they'll be completely vulnerable, so take them out fast!

Moving on to the anti-Musketeer build. With this, you'll want to give him Quick Draw 2 and True Grit 2. That's right - no Burst Fire! The fact that it may not always go off, while these two epics always will when attacked by a Musketeer, is a huge downside to Burst Fire and makes it not the first Epic you'll want to look for on anti-Musketeers. It's definitely a great Epic, and, upon his next promotion, this would definitely be the Epic to give him, but for now, avoiding it would help him more than it would hurt him. As for strategy, do the exact opposite of the Burst Fire strategy. Aim for Musketeers with Quick Draw or True Grit - Bonnie Anne is the first unit you'll want to aim for, assuming she has Quick Draw trained. If the enemy uses Burst Fire, an extra Quick Draw and True Grit will go off - two of your hits for one of the enemy's! He will take some damage, sure, but, as with the other Magnificent 7 Musketeers, you're goal is to drop the enemy before they can drop you. Musketeers are the largest threats in PvP at the moment, so having a companion built to take them out as soon as possible will certainly be worthwhile.
