Strategy:

This companion can't train any additional Epics of your pick, so you don't have to worry about building him too much. Be sure to give him Accurate and Rough, and, for the other Talents, you can simply choose what you find to work best. For the majority of the game, the Crab Hermit isn't too great. He's basically a Musketeer with less Health, Accuracy, etc, and with no Epics that work well in standard combat. Witch Hunter is his only Epic, and how often are you facing Witchdoctors? Not frequently.

However, use the Crab Hermit's Witch Hunter to your advantage! When you are facing Witchdoctor enemies (provided they don't have Witch Hunter themselves), it may be time to dig him out of your second page. You might want to keep him as your firstmate for those battles, to ensure that he joins. Whenever a Witchdoctor enemy will attack him, he'll attack them first, resulting in a powerful attack that will reduce the enemy's Damage. If you have the gold (and are a subscription player), you can also retrain Old Scratch for those fights and give him Witch Hunter. However, if you don't wish to do so the Crab Hermit is a viable option for these pesky Witchdoctor fights. Swashbucklers don't receive any other companions that come with Witch Hunter, so be sure to try him out! You may find that thought-to-be-useless Epic to do more than you expected...

Note: For the other 95% of the game, this companion is next to useless, so don't have high hopes for him. Just remember to dig him out when you need him most!
